Two triangles are said to be similar if their corresponding angles are congruent and the corresponding sides are in proportion .

Therefore we have,


(EC)/(KS)=(AC)/(IK)

Substituting the values, we have,


\begin{gathered} (12)/(4)=(y)/(3.2) \\ 3=(y)/(3.2) \\ y=9.6 \end{gathered}

Thus, the value of y is 9.6
