Etymology is the study of the origin and development of words. Words in the English language came from different languages which are in time, formed into a new word in the English language. Etymology is reflected in the spelling, because the etymology shows the root a certain word according to its origin. For example, the word anthropology. It comes from the Greek word "anthropos" meaning human being. Notice that the Greek word "anthropos" is being applied to the spelling of the English word "anthropology".
