Tom wants to buy a dictionary that costs $19.50, a dinosaur book that costs $8.50, and a children's cookbook that costs $5.50. If he has saved $9.00 from his allowance, how much more money does Tom need to buy all three books? Don't forget to use a dollar sign and proper decimal.

Answer: part a: $33.50

part b: $24.50

Explanation:

add up all the costs of the books so $19.50+$8.50+$5.50=$33.50

next just subtract $9 from $33.50

$33.50-$9.00=$24.5
