Correct answer: B). Cell growth

The Interphase is often referred to as a metabolic phase of the cell cycle because in this phase the cell obtains nutrients, read its DNA, conduct other cell functions. Most of the eukaryotic cell spend most of their time in interphase, it is also called as a resting phase.

The main purpose of interphase is to prepare and check the conditions in order to conduct the successful cell division. In this phase, the cell prepares itself for the division. In this phase, the cell organelles double in number and replication of DNA takes place, and the synthesis of protein, which is required for cell growth are made in this phase of cell growth.
