Assume that the value of an automobile is inversely proportional to its age. If it is worth $3,000 when it is two years old, what is its value when it is six-years-old?

As age increases, the value decreases. Older = less valuable

Value = k x 1/age
$3,000 = k x 1/6

To find k, use $3,000 = k/2
k = $6,000

Substitute $6,000 for k

$3,000 = $6,000 x 1/6 = $1,000
