Why can't the following compounds form solutions?

Na2SO4 and benzene (C6H6)
NaCl and hexane (C6H14)

Thanks!

The compounds given cannot form solutions because they do not have compatible polarities. The pairs given cannot exhibit the "like dissolves like" principle. Na2So4 is a polar molecule while benzene is nonpolar. NaCl is very polar while hexane is non-polar. Lastly, water is a polar molecule while carbon tetrachloride is nonpolar.
