The English Civil War happened between 1642 and 1651. It consisted of a series of armed conflicts and political machinations between Parliamentarians , called "Roundheads", and Royalists, called "Cavaliers". The motive behind it all was mainly the way that England was being governed. Charles dissolved the parliament and made ecclesiastical reforms that alarmed most in England, although he was seen as "too catholic.
