Why did many Africans living in Africa convert to Islam?

Personally, I'd choose b. they liked Islamic ideas and because there's many other Countries in Africa who are Muslims and that choose to follow Islam and because the Islam leads you in the right direction, that's why the Africans chose to be Muslims and/or Islamic.
