3x +12 = 18
-12 -12

Hello,

if 3x+12>0 then |3x+12|=3x+12
so 3x+12=18==>3x=6==>x=2

if 3x+12<0 then |3x+12|=-(3x+12)=-3x-12
so -3x-12=18 ==>-3x=30==>x=-10
