We have in complex number one part as imaginary number

Imaginary number is denoted by i, which is square root of -1.

In real numbers we can have perfect squares as only positive

Hence square root of -1 is only imaginary

When i is raised to even powers we get


i^2=-1\\i^4=1\\i^6=-1\\i^8=1

and so on.

i.e. this answer can not be imaginary but alternating between -1 and 1. Hence cannot simplify to i
