Many immigrants were governing themselves and many believed that the government should be fair and work with the people or even for the people, not against it. Fairness was a concept constantly discussed whenever Britain commanded the colonies to do something. Once the colonists perceived Britain as tyrannical, they decided that Britain was needed no more. It was time for a new government.
