A chocolate cake recipe calls for 12 fluid ounces of milk. If your measuring cup is not marked in fluid ounces, how many cups of milk will you add? (cups : fluid ounces = 1 : 8)

1/2 or 1.5
if you divide 12 by the number of fluid ounces in a cup, you get a number of cups that will equal 12 fluid ounces

Check work:
simply do 1.5 times 8 which should equal 12
