I would think that the dictionary is important to standardize a language. It's so that people don't just make up their own words

Answer:

The primary purpose of the dictionary is to standardize the language

Explanation:

A dictionary is a reference book of words and it describes the functioning of these words. It does it by listing these words in alphabetical order in the form of headwords, it includes uses, origins, phonetics and many elements about each one. Language gets standardize through this due to all the words in a dictionary have been previously approved as the official writen form as well as the phonetic form.
