x - price of candles
y - price of matches
x+y=420
x=6y
6y+y=420
7y=420
y=60
Matches cost ₦60.

Let's say
cost of packet of candles = a
cost of box of matches = b
Total cost = 420
a + b = 420
cost of candles = 6 times of cost of box of matches
a = 6 * b
a = 6b
a + b = 420
6b + b = 420
7b = 420
b = 60
so cost of matches = 60
