Any line with no slope is parallel to the

THE ANSWER IS x-axis

Any line parallel to the x-axis has zero slope since there is no rise in the coordinates. The slope is equal to rise over run which means if there is no rise, the slope is zero.

If the point (a,3) lies on the graph of the equation 5x + y = 8, then

THE ANSWER IS a = 1

Simply substitute 3 to y, and solve for x:
5x + 3 = 8
5x = 8 - 3
5x = 5
x = 1
