The New England colonies consisted of Massachusetts Bay Colony, Connecticut Colony, the Province of New Hampshire and the Colony of Rhode Island. During the voyage from England and the Netherlands, many of the colonists contracted diseases as a result of the bitterly cold and harsh winters. This wiped out about half of the colonists.
