The spinner has 8 equally sized slices from which:

4 are red

3 are blue

1 is yellow

Note there are 3 + 1 = 4 slices that are not red.

The probability is calculated as the ratio of the number of favorable outcomes to the total number of possible outcomes.

There are 4 favorable outcomes out of 8 total outcomes, thus:

p=(4)/(8)=(1)/(2)

Answer: 1/2
