Personification is the humanizing of an object, e.g "the tree speaking in the wind". A metaphor is used to make direct comparisons between two subjects. An onomatopoeia is a word that shows "sound", e.g BANG. Alliteration is a number of words all beginning with the same letter, e.g Adam ate apple at Alabama.
