The mass in grams of CO₂ : 88 g

Further explanation

Given

44.8 liters of CH₄

Required

mass of CO₂

Solution

Reaction

CH₄ + 2O₂ → CO₂ + 2H₂O.

mol CH₄ :

= 44.8 : 22.4

= 2

From equation, mol ratio CH₄ : CO₂ = 1 : 1, so mol CO₂ = 2

Mass CO₂(MW = 44 g/mol) :

= mol x MW

= 2 x 44

= 88 g
