Sam Seller pays a local club $40 a month. Each week he has dinner for a flat fee of $20.00. Sam takes a cab, which charges him $1.75 for the first half-mile and $1.00 for each mile after that. The club is 5.5 miles from Sam's home, and he tips the driver $5.00 when he returns home. What does this meal cost Sam? (Don't forget the club membership for that week.)

Considering he has paid for his membership on that very same week, his total bill for that meal includes his membership, the flat fee, the cab ride, and the tip. These values are listed below:

Club membership = $40
Dinner = $20
Cab ride = $1(m - 0.5) + $1.75 ; where m = number of miles
Tip = $5

Total bill = 40 + 20 + 1(m - 0.5) + 1.75 + 5
Total bill = 40 + 20 + 1(5.5 - 0.5) + 1.75 + 5
Total bill = 40 + 20 + 1(5) + 1.75 + 5
Total bill = 60 + 5 + 6.75
Total bill = $71.75
