1/4 + 5/12 =? Simplify your answer.

12x4=48 so it is over 48. (1x12)+(5x4)=12+20. That is 32. It is 32/48 which simplifies down to 8/12 and then 2/3. Another way to do it is 1/4 is the same as 3/12. 3/12+5/12=8/12 which is the same as 2/3. Hope this helped.

1/4 + 5/12 = 3/12 + 5/12= 8/12 = 2/3

You must get the denominators the same so you multiply both 1 and 4 and you get 3/12. Then you add the two fractions and simplify it into 2/3
