Given:

A candy machine produces per minute:

Red: 2

Green: 2

Blue: 4

Orange: 5

Yellow: 7

Part A: If the machine produces 40 O (orange) candy pieces, how much green does it produce?

The ratio between Orange and Green = 5 : 2

When the machine produces 40 orange, it will produce x green

So,

\begin{gathered} 5\colon2=40\colon x \\ (5)/(2)=(40)/(x) \\ \\ x=(2\cdot40)/(5)=16 \end{gathered}

So, the number of green = 16

Part B: If 4200 pieces are made in an hour, how many are red?

The number of total pieces = 2 + 2 + 4 + 5 + 7 = 20 per minutes

The percent of red candies = 2/20 = 0.1

If the number of pieces = 4200

So, the number of red = 0.1 * 4200 = 420

So, the answer will be 420 red
