You have the following equation:

-2/3 (x + 12) + 2/3 x = -5/4 x + 2

in order to solve for x, proceed as follow

-2/3 (x + 12) + 2/3 x = -5/4 x + 2 multiply both sides by the LCM = 12

(-2/3 (x + 12) + 2/3 x = -5/4 x + 2)(12)

-2(x + 12)(4) + 2x(4) = -5x(3) + 24

-8(x + 12) + 8x = -15x + 24

-8x - 8(12) + 8x = -15x + 24

-8x - 106 + 8x = -15x + 24 simplify like terms both sides

-106 = -15x + 24 subtract 24 both sides

-106 - 24 = -15x

-130 = -15x divide by -15 both sides

130/15 = x

26/3 = x
