The last war that leads to the unification of Germany was the Franco-Prussian war. The Princes of Germany gathered in the Versailles Palace in order to proclaim Wilhelm I of Germany as the new German Emperor. The ceremony was held in the Hall of Mirror inside the famous French palace.
