Which strategy should be used to correctly solve this problem?
Bill wanted to make a rectangular pool that had an area of 80 square feet. He wanted to put tile around it, but he wanted to use as little tile as possible. What are the dimensions Bill should use for his pool?
A.
Arrange 80 square tiles in different patterns until you get a rectangular shape. Count the number of tiles on the perimeter of this shape.
B.
Make a table showing all possible products of length and width that would equal an area of 80 square feet. Then start calculating the perimeter of each rectangle. Look for a pattern to decrease the number of calculations you have to make.
C.
Write a number sentence that could be used to calculate the area of a rectangle. Use guess and check to find two numbers that when multiplied will give a product of 80.
