make y the subject for both equations
2x - y = 10, y = 2x - 10
x + y = 2, y = 2 - x
therefore
2 - x = 2x - 10
2 + 10 = 2x + x
12 = 3x
4 = x

Q2:
Sub x into an equation to find y
x + y = 2
y = 2 - x
y = 2 - 4
y = -2
