Solution

y = -3

y = 2x - 3

Substitute y for -3

-3 = 2x - 3

Add 3 to both sides

-3 + 3 = 2x - 3 + 3

Simplify the equation

0 = 2x

Switch sides so that the 2x is on the left side of the equation

2x = 0

Now divide both sides by 2

2x/2 = 0/2

Simplify the equation

x = 0

Therefore y = -3 and x = 0
