5. How does Gorman describe what “being American” is or isn’t? Why do you think she describes it in this way? What, if anything, might you change or add to her description?

Answer: She talks about how America is not pristine or perfect and implies it never will be, but with love for one another we can live more peacefully in this country of ours.

She says,"America is not broken (by rascism) but simply isnt finished". I think she means America needs to fix its self and by saying it isnt finished means that it's history is not over and can still be righted to not be rascist.
