Hello,
Let x the length
y the width
2*(x+y)=188 ==>x+y=94
A= x*y must be maximized
A=x*(94-x)=-(x²-2*47*x+47²)+47²=-(x-17)²+2209
A est maximize if x=47
x=47 =>y=94-47=47 (a square!!!)
Area=47²=2209 (ft²)
