A(room)-A(rug)=A(remaining)

We still don't know the area of the entire room, so lets solve for that

A(room)=l*w
A(room)=25*20
A(room)=500sq ft

Now we can search for the remaining area...

A(room)-A(rug)=A(remaining)
500-150=
350 sqft

Answer=350 sqft
