Here's the equation:
4x+1+x = 121. Where x is equal to the amount of vanilla cones.
5x + 1 = 121
5x = 120
x = 24
There were 24 vanilla and 97 chocolate.

I just had this question for homework too!
c = 4v + 1
v + c = 121
Now use substitution.
v + 4v + 1 = 121
5v + 1 = 121
5v = 120
v = 24
The answer is 24.
