The 1989 Revolutions, also known as The Fall of Nations, was a revolutionary wave that swept Central and Eastern Europe in the fall of 1989.

But the event that symbolized the end of communism and the dissolution of the USSR was from 9 to 10 November 1989 with the destruction of the Berlin Wall.

In November of 1989, the opening of the Berlin Wall was the event that symbolized the end of the old Soviet dominated order in Eastern Europe. This was a great event that people of both sides of the Berlin wall eagerly waited to happen. I hope the answer helps you in your quest.
