The McKinley Act was a tariff that was created by William McKinley. This tariff increased the taxes by 50 percent on products imported in the United States. Because of this act many products were very expensive and the revenue from the tariff was decreased because of raw sugar was removed from the list of products that were on the list for tariff duty.
