if the x column is 0 then the y intercept should be (-8)

The general format is y = mx + c.

Where m is the gradient and the y intercept is c.

So comparing to y = -2x - 8

m = -2 and c = -8.

Therefore the y intercept is = -8.

I hope this helps.
