First use distrib. property of mult.
9(2x-8) = 5x - 7 so
18x - 72 = 5x -7
18x-5x = -7+72
13x = 65
13/13x = 65/13
x = 5
Check Ans: 18*5 -72 = 5*5-7
18 = 18 √

9(2x --8) =5x-7
step 1: simplify 18x - 72 = 5x - 7
23x = -79
step 2: solve it x = -3.43
