a(b+c)=ab+ac
distribute invisible -1
5x^2+x-3+2x^3-4
group like terms
2x^3+5x^2+x-3-4
2x^3+5x^2+x-7

I love this! :3

5x^2+x−3−(−2x^3+4)

5x^2+x+−3+−1(−2x^3)+(−1)(4)

5x^2+x+−3+2x^3+−4

(2x^3)+(5x^2)+(x)+(−3+−4)

And we're left with 2x^3+5x^2+x−7
