A cell phone company charges a monthly fee plus $0.25 for each text message. The monthly fee is $30.00 and you owe $59.50. How many text messages did you have? Write an equation using x as the variable and then solve the equation.

The equation would be 59.50 = 30 + .25x.You woould solve by subtracing 30 from 59.50, and you get 29.5. Then dividing .25 by that, and you get 118. So you sent 118 texts.

Answer: 2 text

Explanation:

1 text costs a monthly fee + $0.25

monthly fee = $30.00

1 text = $30.00 + $0.25 =$30.25

Using proportion

1text = $30.25

X text = $59.50

Cross multiply

X × $30.25 = $59.50 × 1

Divide bothside by $30.25

X = $59.50 / $30.25

X = 1.966

X = 2 approximately

Therefore number of texts = 2
