how would you know if something more dense than something else. Trying to help my 5th grader on homework.

To find the density of an object, find the ratio of its mass to its volume

You take mass ÷ volume to = density
m/v=d
And from then on it's simple if its larger its more dense, smaller less density.
And if the density is below 1.00 it can float in water.
