The length of a rectangular building is 4 feet more than 3 times the width. The perimeter is 84 feet. Find the width and length of the building.

Width=9.5, Length=32.5

Explanation:

Let x be the width of the rectangle,

The length is 4 feet more than 3 times the width,

The length= 3x+4

The perimeter is

2(x)+2(3x+4)=84

2x+6x+8=84

8x=76

x=76/8

x=9.5

The Width=9.5

Length= 3(9.5)+4=32.5
