Answer: First side = 13 yarsd

Second side = 18 yards

third side = 11 yards

Explanation:

Let the second side of the triangle be x.

Then the first side must be
x-5

and the third side must be
(x-5)-2=x-7

We know that the perimeter of triangle = Sum of all sides .

Therefore, we have

x-5+x+x-7=42\\\\\Rightarrow\ 2x-12=42\\\\\Rightarrow\ 3x=42+12\\\\\Rightarrow\ 3x=54\\\\\Rightarrpw\ x=18

Hence, the length of second side = 18 yards

The length of first side = 18-5=13 yards

The length of third side = 13-2=11 yards

The answer for this question is a = 13 yards, b = 18 yards, and c = 11 yards.

Solution:

a = first side
b = second side
c = third side

Using the statements given above, a system of three equations can be formed.

a+b+c = 42
a = b-5
c = a-2

Substituting these three equations will give the values of the three variables.
