October 17, 1989. It had a 6.9 magnitude. It was also know as the Loma Prieta Earthquake (because the Loma Prieta Peak is just east of the epicentre) that struck San Francisco Bay. There were 63 deaths, nearly 3,800 injuries and there was around $6 billion in property damage.
