Given:
Quadrilateral ABCD is a parallelogram with diagonals that intersect at point E.
AD = 4w - 5
DE = 4
BE = x/2
BC = 7w - 17
AD and BC are parallelogram, this means that they are equal in measure.
AD = BC
4w - 5 = 7w - 17
4w - 7w = -17 + 5
-3w = -12
w = -12/-3
w = 4
AD = BC
4(4) - 5 = 7(4) - 17
16 - 5 = 28 - 17
11 = 11
DE = BE
4 = x/2
4*2 = x
8 = x
The value of x is 8.
