subtract the same number from the numerator and denominator
cancel out anything the numerator and denominator share
multiply the entire fraction by 1
use the negative reciprocal

Not really subtract, I would say divid the number they share from it, so 2/4 you can divide each by 2 to make it 1/2. Hope this helped!
