30 feet is 9.144 meters, so the ladder is 2.856m too short.

convert to inches
1 meter=39 inches
12 times 39=468 inches
1feet=12 inches
12 times 30=360 inches
468-360=108 inches
108 inches=how many feet
1foot=12 inches
1/12foot=1 inch
108 times 1/12foot=9
answer is 9 feet short
