As per the statement:

x = 6y .....[1]

and


x -y = 35 .....[2]

Substitute equation [1] into [2] we get;


6y-y = 35

Combine like terms;


5y = 35

Divide both sides by 5 we get;

y = 7

Substitute the value of y =7 in [1] we get;


x = 6(7) = 42

Therefore, the two numbers are: 42 and 7
