680/170 = 4
50 doubled 4 times equals 800.
The population will be 800 in 680 minutes.

how many doubles
170 times x=680
divide both sides by 170
x=4

it doubled 4 times

therefor
50 doubled 4 times means
50 times 2^4=50 times 16=800

population is 800
