why will a flat sheet of paper drop from a height of 2 meters but it wont accelerate and the same rate of a sheet of paper crumpled into a ball?

i believe it is because the matter changes within the paper . the paper goes from flat , light weighted to balled up new shape and form ... i hope it helps
