First you need to know what
34 1/4 is in a decimal. It will equal
34.25.
Then you need to know how many liters equal a millimeter.
0.001 liters equal a millimeter, or in other words
1,000 millimeters equals a liter.
Next you multiply, which you should know if that is
1,000 then you just fill the multiplication problem with
0. As in this equation if you multiply
34 to
1,000, you'll get
34,000. So if you do
34.24... it will change into
34,250. If it was in a cubic way it would be
34,250,000. So the answer is
34,250, or
34,250,000. But we're not finished until were done subtracting to get out answer.

40 liters equals
40,000 millimeters,
40,000 -
34,250... which is
5,750.
