It drew world-wide attention for the treatment of blacks in the South. It also exposed the evils of segregation and racism. It also persuaded President Kennedy to address the issue. Because of this Black students were now allowed to study in White schools and more Blacks registered to vote. Slowly but surely it ended racism and segregation.
