A tank has an opening through which water leaks out. The table below shows the amount of water, in gallons, in the tank after different amounts of time, in hours:

What type of association will the scatter plot for this data represent between the number of hours and the amount of water in the tank, in gallons?
A negative nonlinear association
A positive linear association

It is a negative linear association because it descends at a constant rate of .5 making it linear but the line is going down making it negative

Answer: A negative linear association

Explanation:

From the given table in the picture , it can be seen that as the time is increasing the amount of water in tank decreases, it indicates that there is a negative association between the two variables.

Also, the rate of change in amount of water is constant as 0.5 gallon per hour.

It implies there is a linear association.

Now, the scatter plot for this data represents there is a negative linear association between the number of hours and the amount of water in the tank, in gallons.
